Q&A with Victoria Smith

Design & lifestyle blogger

I am Victoria Smith, a San Francisco design & lifestyle blogger at I'm also a sometimes interior designer, stylist and photographer.

I work on a 27" iMac at my desk in my home studio, and from my bed or sofa (which happens more frequently than it should) I work on a 17" MacBook Pro. I also have a Canon Pixma Scanner/Printer. When at Makeshift Society, a creative co-working space I helped found and work at from time to time, I work on a 13" Macbook Air. I shoot images for the blog with a Nikon DF and my iPhone. I'm also fond of keeping a daily to-do list in old fashioned pen and ink - low-tech seems the only way that works for me.

I primarily use Photoshop CS6. I shoot with the VSCO App on my iPhone.

Dream setup

I really love my home office – it's spacious (it used to be my dining room, but oh well, I work more than I eat) and has big beautiful windows with lots of light. I could probably do with a better desk chair, but I chose form over function. I would love to have a true studio space designated exclusively for photo shoots, and blog events. That's in a perfect world, but I like working from home in my jammies, too.

Travel and just roaming around San Francisco with my camera. But also from other blogs like Door Sixteen, Freunde von Freunden, Park & Cube, DesignLoveFest, Design*Sponge - the list is endless. I'm also a international magazine junkie (Living Etc, Elle Decor South Africa, etc.) and buy countless (i.e. way too many) design books. Also, pretty addicted to Pinterest, Twitter and Tumblr.
