Q&A with Joseph Casabona
My name is Joe Casabona and I'm a web developer, author, and teacher. I have a book coming out in December called Responsive Design with WordPress. You can find me on Twitter at @jcasabona or on my website at http://casabona.org.
What hardware do you use?
My current setup is a 27" iMac with a 2nd, 24" monitor at home and a Macbook Air on the road. My phone is the Samsung S4 (Android all the way!). I also have a Galaxy Note 10.1 I use for note-taking and Interneting. Finally, I always have a notebook and pen with me. I've gotten a lot into bullet journaling.
And what software?
For development, I absolutely love Coda; it has made me considerably more productive with it. I also upload a lot of my code to Github. My browser of choice is Chrome across all platforms. I always have Spotify up for music and Dashlane up as my password/sensitive data manager. On the web, GMail and Feedly are the websites I visit most.
What would be your dream setup?
What a question! Hmm, I'd say that a supped up Mac Pro with 3 27" monitors would be where it's at. Get me some great headphones and a docking station for all of my devices on the same desk and I will be all set. Or even better, I've had my eye on the Sonos Playbar for a while. Set some Sonos wireless speakers up all around my apartment and I'd be a happy man.
Where does your work inspiration come from?
I consider myself very lucky in the sense that my profession is also my hobby. As far as..we'll say "direct" inspriation...Dribbble and CodePen help a lot with it. I also read a lot of design and development books and blogs, as well as podcasts. Happy Monday and Shoptalk Show are my favorite trade podcasts. I also listen to Stuff You Should Know when I want a little non-web related inspiration.
