Work inspiration with Joe Rogers

Joe Rogers
(aka Colourbox): designer of things
My name is Joe, I also go under the name Colourbox for my artwork. I make things.
What inspired you to become a designer?
I enjoyed doing art at school and things just developed from there.
What design software (or tools) do you use?
I produce my artwork with a variety of mixed media, paper, pens, paints etc etc. I only tend to really use photoshop and just basically as a compositional and colouring tool.
What is your ideal work environment?
Somewhere where I can concentrate, do my own thing and not be disturbed. I have never worked in a shared studio, I tend to like to work alone.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
I guess inspiration comes from daily life, I can never really pinpoint one particular source, things just get jumbled up in my brain and idea can spring out of my head from nowhere. I do however like looking at other artists blogs, visiting galleries, watching art and music documentaries, lectures and performances to keep myself informed and I guess that is my general architecture of inspiration.
Who is the person you admire most?
I do not have one particular person, I admire many artists and creatives. I admire people who have an open way of thinking, interesting methods of producing their work and who stick to their guns.
