Graphic designer and writer | Co-founder of UnderConsideration

I am Armin Vit, co-founder of UnderConsideration, a strange combination of design firm and publishing enterprise. We design for clients, run blogs, publish books and magazines, and organize conferences and speaker series. I'm originally from Mexico City and now live in Austin, TX after stays in Atlanta, Chicago, and New York (where I worked at Pentagram). I write, I design, I code, and I run.

Software / hardware

Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop — in that order of love. What I use the most though are probably Apple's Mail and TextEdit applications. I also have a secret addiction to Apple's Numbers.

Ideal work environment

It's probably an obvious answer, but what I have right now: I work from home in a comfortable office. It's quiet. I have all the fruits and snacks I want. I can wear whatever I want. It has everything we need, perhaps except more storage. I like the solitude and lack of distraction of not working in an office.

Work inspiration

Work inspiration? I don't have any inspiration for work. Work is work. Design is a series of steps and part of an objective, rational process. Flowers don't inspire me to choose a font. Movies don't inspire me to choose a color. Music doesn't inspire me to come up with an idea. Thinking hard and working hard is what generates work.

Creatives you admire most

Too many to mention, but let's say five recent: Anagrama, Matt Stevens, Infinito (in Peru), Creature (in Seattle), Interbrand Sydney.
