Q&A with Maximiliano Firtman

Mobile & web developer from Argentina

My name is Maximiliano Firtman, I'm a mobile+web developer; I've been doing web development sin 1996 and mobile development in 2001; in the last years I'm focused on both technologies at the same time, using HTML5 for mobile webapp development while also doing some native apps. I've written some books including "Programming the Mobile Web" and "jQuery Mobile: Up and Running" both from O'Reilly Media and I'm usually travelling around the globe doing trainings and talks on mobile html5 and mobile technologies.

Hardware

My main "desktop" hardware is a MacBook Air (2013 edition) with 8Gb RAM and 512Mb Hard drive. For testing purposes I own around 45 (yes, fourty-five) devices including smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices. Main devices I'm using right now includes: Nexus 5, Nexus S, Nexus 7, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 4th generation, Google Glass, Sony Smartwatch 2, Firefox OS developer device, BlackBerry Z10, Nokia Lumia 920.

Software

Mainly Google Chrome, Dev Tools, Remote debuggers, Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Edge Code, TextWranger, Code 2, TweetBot for Mac and Keynote for my presentations.

Dream setup

Easy to transport, as light as possible with some kind of connectivity everywhere. For the kind of work I do I don't need too much hardware. I don't care about 200 cores or 50Gb RAM; transport (weight, size) is a priority for me besides connectivity.

Inspiration

I'm a sci-fi fan so many universes are inspiring our generation but I'm not sure I have one specific inspiration source for my particular work.
